30MayThe Art of Noticing9:00 am-10:30 am
Step outside and learn to see the natural world like an artist. On this relaxed, creative hike, we’ll explore several different ways to notice in nature. We’ll spend time looking for patterns, textures, light, shapes, color, tiny details, and the stories hidden in the landscape. Along the trail, we’ll pause to sketch, photograph, and observe the small things most people walk past. No art experience needed. Bring your curiosity and a willingness to slow down and notice. A small paperback journal and a pencil will be provided to record your observations.
Please note: We will meet at the 29th Street Trailhead in Ogden and head south along the low path. We’ll be hiking for 90 minutes outdoors. Participants should plan accordingly by wearing comfortable walking shoes and bringing water, sun protection, and anything else they’d like to use for sketching or photographing their observations.
When: Saturday, May 30, 2026, 9-10:30 am
Where: Meet at the entrance to the 29th Street Trailhead, 2985 Buchanan Ave, in Ogden. There is a large lot for parking.

About the Instructors
Heather Musante (she/her) started painting as an adult while she lived and obsessively rock climbed in West Virginia. Since then she has traveled extensively with her husband. Heather’s watercolors tend to reflect her love of nature—animals, birds, flowers, trees, and scenic vistas are all represented. Her watercolors may also contain some organic doodling to lighten the mood. Occasionally, her inner engineer slips out resulting in an overly detailed piece like a mandala or a hyper-realistic kangaroo. There’s no telling what she’ll paint next.
KC Peek (she/her) is an award-winning mixed media artist based in Ogden, Utah. She is known for her unique dioramas made from thrift store finds, her great-grandmother’s costume jewelry, and other memorabilia. In addition to her dioramas, KC paints delicate watercolors, often focusing on botanicals, and explores mixed media techniques to create striking 2D and relief artwork.
