In this class, you’ll learn how to make your own unique silver ring from scratch. You will start with a blank piece of silver. They you will shape, file, stamp words and punch a hole and add a silver dandle hook. You will get to use a variety of tools to shape and decorate your earring. Finally, you’ll polish your earing to a beautiful shine.

No experience is necessary, so everyone is welcome. Our experienced instructor will guide you every step of the way.

Learn the basics of silver jewelry making, including shaping, and polishing.
Get creative and design your own unique earring. One will be able to stamp a word or date if desired.

This class will be taught by Rene Venegas, a 16th generation silversmith. His family was one of the first to arrive from Spain to the Americas. His ancestor, Felipe Venegas, was the silversmith for the early cathedrals in the Dominican Republic and stamped the first European coins in the New World.  He has been teaching jewelry and silversmithing classes at Weber State for 15 years. In addition, he has been featured in The Standard Examiner, The Signpost, KUTV Inside the Story,  FOX13 Good Morning Utah, The Salt Project and KTVX Good Things Utah.
