LIVE LIFE IN FULL BLOOM WITH MIXED MEDIA AND WOOD ART
WHAT:
Spring is on the horizon; it’s time for a refresh! Join Shelley from Wood N Things and Jackie from Journey Bound for some fun and creative expression! In this collaborative class, we will explore the fundamentals of mixed media art on a precut wood surface to create a beautiful 3-piece shelf décor item in the color of your choice.
This is a comprehensive course for basic mixed media where attendees will learn a full range of techniques with hands-on instruction.
Techniques will include learning resin basics, application then we’ll unify everything using gesso, metallic wax, water-based varnish and finish it off with some decorative spindles and fabric.
There is no experience needed, everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us.
WHY:
Creativity offers significant mental health, cognitive and emotional benefit. Engaging in creative pursuits can result in lowering stress, anxiety and burnout as well as increasing happiness and self-esteem, also it’s quite fun!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Shelley Gronwald does wood crafts and home decor. She and her husband do their crafting out of their shop at their home. They opened Wood-N-Things back in 2013 and have enjoyed making custom orders and wood crafting since then.
Jackie Archibald is a mixed media artist who loves the freedom and challenge of using various materials to create one-of-a-kind pieces. She finds joy in the process and has found it to be calming and therapeutic. Once you learn the basics of the mixed media process the possibilities are endless and she is frequently heard saying she has way more ideas than time. Some of her favorite materials include; resin, heavy gel medium, gesso, metallic waxes, paint, metal, chipboard and just about any interesting object she can find.
